Linking to Online files and Web Content

Google Mail and Google Docs are excellent Services. I set my e-mail to auto forward to GMail and backup those really important docs on Google Docs. You can have an online calendar using Google Calendar and then set it to remind you via a text message to your cell phone.

I set up Windows live SkyDrive to store and share documents, photos and possibly organize events. This is easily access by those hotmail accounts

I even set up a web portal on Office Small Business just to see how that could be used.

Some other file sharing services are offered with the Western Digital My Book World Edition-a hard drive that has on line back-up to an ethernet connected Hard drive using a service via MioNet. Dell has a reasonably priced Online back up too. I got 10GB free for a year with a Vostro Laptop purchase.

Windows Live Sync replaced Windows Live FolderShare

With Sync, you can access your files from anywhere. Keep all your files in sync. Use Sync to mirror your most important folders - like your Favorites, Pictures, and Documents - so they're the same on all your computers. Large files? Not a problem - Sync can handle files up to 4 GBs in size. And it works on both PC and Mac (support for Mac is available in English only).

Get to your files when you're away from home. Install Sync on your computers to instantly access your files from anywhere.

Windows Live FolderShare is essentially being “retired”. Replacing it will be Windows Live Sync. As the FolderShare Team explains on their blog – you can think of Windows Live Sync as FolderShare 2.0, it went live in December 2008 at sync.live.com and will also be part of Windows Live Photo Gallery for photo album sync between PCs.

Rats! The Cruzer Titanium Plus product included a free 6-month trial of BeInSync online backup service. The BeInSync online backup service was terminated June 1st, 2009. SanDisk immediately discontinued the Cruzer Titanium Plus product when Phoenix Technologies announced the backup service termination. The Cruzer Titanium Plus is currently not available from SanDisk, but there are some stock still being sold at discount prices from some retail vendors.

SanDisk was not the service provider for the online backup service. BeInSync was acquired by Phoenix Technologies, who made the decision to terminate the online backup service on short notice. All customer data has been deleted and is not available from the BeInSync service.

If you purchased the Cruzer Titanium Plus drive after June 1st, 2009, you would have gotten errors trying to register for the online backup service. If you purchased prior to that and had a current subscription, you would have gotten errors that the backup service was not working when using the drive. The BeInSync application would have notified the customer that it was unable to perform backups as of the closure date (June 1, 2009).
